Salam Takziah, Ibrahim Mydin (1944–2023)

Malaysia kehilangan seorang legenda bola sepak hari ini. Allahyarham Ibrahim Mydin baru sahaja menghembus nafas terakhir beliau tengah hari tadi.

Malaysia has lost a national football legend today. The late Ibrahim Mydin took his last breath earlier this afternoon. Legasi Lagenda would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to his family.

Ibrahim Mydin was a brilliant mind on the field, sending good passes to his teammates to score goals. He also scored a lot of goals himself. Many of his friends who played with him such as Rahim Abdullah, Dato’ Shukor Salleh, Soo-Toh Kim Poh, Dato’ N. Thanabalan, and Dato’ M. Karathu acknowledged his greatness as a skilled midfielder.

Ibrahim Mydin was very easy to talk to and he was very generous in sharing many of his bittersweet experiences he went through as a football player. Coming from a poor family, he had proven that it did not stop him from becoming a successful person. Hard work from a young age has led him to play for the country in major tournaments such as the Merdeka Tournament, Asian Games, Thai King’s Cup and Jakarta Anniversary Tournament.

He was also appointed as Harimau Malaya captain, where he helped the team’s coach by giving ideas on pattern of play.

Let us all pray that his soul is showered with Allah SWT’s blessings and for him to be placed among the believers. We also pray for his family to stay strong as they face the loss of their loved one.
