Legasi Lagenda would like to wish Datuk Marina Chin a happy 68th birthday!

Marina Chin, a six-time SEA Games gold medallist, has broken the Games record twice in the 100m hurdles event. She brought home her first SEA Games gold medal during her debut appearance in 1971, where she came first in 4x400m relay alongside Noreen Pereira, Fadzillah Ahmad and Junaidah Aman.

Her achievements have led her to being awarded Sportswoman of the Year two years in a row in 1976 and 1977. During this time, she held the national record in four events – 100m, as well as 100m, 200m, and 400m hurdles.

After retiring from the track, Marina continued to contribute to the Malaysian sports scene. A teacher throughout her career, she became headmistress of Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) from 2007 to 2015. She had always encouraged athletes to put equal importance in their studies as well as sport. In 2017, she was given the honour of being Malaysia’s chef-de-mission at the KL SEA Games. A few months ago, she was appointed as the new Chairman of the ISN Board.

Marina was not only a star on the track, but she has also played a key role in developing new talents. We hope that all of her achievements will be remembered by generations to come.
