Saik Oik Cum – Gadis Terpantas Asia
Legasi Lagenda berjaya merakam foto bekas pelari 400m negara bersama majalah sukan yang mempamerkan wajah beliau pada muka hadapan.
“Wow! Saya pun tak ada gambar ni,” kata Oik Cum yang ternyata sangat teruja apabila melihat foto berusia 45 tahun itu.
Gambar tersebut diabadikan sewaktu Oik Cum memenangi acara 400m ketika mewakili Pulau Pinang di Kejohanan Olahraga Majlis Sukan Sekolah-Sekolah Malaysia (MSSM) di Stadium Kota Raja, Klang.
Setahun selepas itu, Oik Cum melakar sejarah di Sukan Asia Bangkok 1978. Gadis berumur 18 tahun itu mengejutkan ramai pengikut olahraga apabila beliau memenangi pingat emas dengan catatan 55.09s menewaskan Keiko Nagasawa dari Jepun (perak, 55.72s) dan Gao Yanqing dari China (gangsa, 56.23s).

Saik Oik Cum – Asia’s Fastest Woman
Legasi Lagenda managed to capture a photo of a former national 400m runner holding up a sports magazine that featured their face on the front page.
“Wow! Even I don’t have this picture,” said Oik Cum who was very excited to see the 45-year-old photo.
The photo was immortalised when Oik Cum won the 400m event while representing Penang at the MSSM Athletics Championships held at Kota Raja Stadium, Kelang.
A year later, Oik Cum made history at the 1978 Bangkok Asian Games. The 18-year-old surprised many athletics fans when she won the gold medal with a time of 55.09s, defeating Japan’s Keiko Nagasawa (silver, 55.72s) and China’s Gao Yanqing (bronze, 56.23s).
