Pada tahun 1950, mereka bukan sekadar mewakili pasukan angkat berat Malaya malah berjaya merangkul pingat di British Empire Games (sekarang dikenali sebagai Sukan Komanwel). Kejohanan tersebut diadakan di Auckland, New Zealand pada 4-11 Februari.

- Koh Eng Tong – pingat emas (685lb), kelas Featherweight
- Thong Saw Pak – pingat perak (735lb), kelas Lightweight

Did You Know? – The Strong Men of Malaya
In 1950, they not only represented Malaya in weightlifting but also returned home with medals from the British Empire Games (now known as the Commonwealth Games). The Games were held in Auckland, New Zealand from February 4–11.
