Kelayakan Hoki Piala Dunia Belia – Kawasan Asia dan Oceania 1977
Apa perasaan anda apabila dipanggil untuk menjalani latihan pusat bagi menghadapi kejohanan bertaraf dunia? Apatah lagi anda yang berumur belasan tahun.
Buat kali pertamanya, Kejohanan Hoki Piala Dunia Belia akan diadakan di Versailles, Perancis pada tahun 1979. Malaysia dipilih untuk menjadi tuan rumah bagi kejohanan kelayakan yang berlangsung pada 14 – 22 Mei, 1977.
Seramai 37 pemain dipanggil untuk merebut tempat:
Zulkifli Abas, Brian Carvalho, Sayuti Abu Samat, Jan Sta Maria, Chin Boon Gee, Wong Tuck Yeong, Ahmad Siwan, Yong Yean Kean, Wallace Tan, Danny Ang, V. Ravindran, Foo Keat Seong, Benedict Arrias, Christopher Gomes, Stephen Van Huizen, Appavos, Kamaruddin Ahmad, Ranjit Singh, Pathmabalan, Suriya Prakash, Yusoff Shamsuri, Kamaruddin Temu, Gerrard A. Raj, Abdul Kadir, Terrence Rajasingam, Lim Yoke Choy, Baldev Singh, Mohamad Arshad, Martin Arrias, Pathmajothy, Updesh Singh, Tan Teik Joo, Razak Leman, Lim Hock Seng, M. Surendran, Anthony Cruz, dan Tham Chiew Seng.
Antara mereka akan dipilih untuk menjelajah Australia Barat sebagai persiapan bagi melayakkan diri ke Piala Dunia Belia yang pertama.

1977 Junior Hockey World Cup – Asia & Ocenia Qualifying Tournament
How would you feel if you were called for central training to face a world-class tournament? Moreover, you are in your teens.
For its first time, the Junior Hockey World Cup will be held in Versailles, France in 1979. Malaysia was selected to hose the qualifying tournament, which took place from May 14-22, 1977.
A total of 37 players were called up to be shortlisted:

A selected group of players among them will be selected to tour Western Australia in preparation to qualify for the first Junior World Cup.
