Harimau dan ‘Gold Flake’

Pasukan Harimau / Tigers menyarung jersi berlogo Gold Flake di Pestabola Merdeka 1985.

Gold Flake merupakan penaja utama bagi kejohanan yang bernilai lebih RM1 juta dan berlangsung pada 24 Julai – 3 Ogos. Perlawanan-perlawanan diadakan di Alor Setar, Kota Bharu, Kuantan dan Kuala Lumpur.

Pemain-pemain dalam pasukan pelapis yang diberi nama Harimau ini terdiri daripada mereka yang berumur 25 tahun ke bawah. Pasukan di bawah jurulatih Abdullah Mohamed terdiri daripada: Salleh Mohamed Noor, Ramli Talib, S. Krishnamoorthy, Hasnan Ahmad, Razip Ismail, Soh Chor Len, Abu Bakar Ahmad, Zulkifli Abdullah, P. Dharmalingham, M.Ravindran, Mohamad Faridzul Kassim, Ramlan Askolani, Zainal Nordin, Khalid Shahdan, Lahad Daduk Sulik, Azlan Johar, Azhar Shariff, Subadron Aziz, Hasim Mustapha, Michael Chang, Hashim Marman dan Mokhtar Dahari.

Pasukan luar yang bertanding pada edisi ini adalah Ghana, Indonesia, pasukan pilihan Swansea City, Kelab America FC (Rio de Janeiro) dari Brazil, Korea Selatan dan Thailand.

Legasi Lagenda akan mengimbas kembali perjalanan skuad Harimau dan pasukan senior kebangsaan dalam Pestabola Merdeka ’85 pada masa akan datang.

The Tigers & Gold Flake

The Tigers team wore a Gold Flake branded jersey at the 1985 Merdeka Tournament. 

Gold Flake was the main sponsor for the event, which was valued at RM1 million. The tournament took place from July 24 – August 3. The matches were held in Alor Setar, Kota Bahru, Kuantan and Kuala Lumpur. 

The players in this back-up team named the Tigers were those of 25 years and under. The team under Abdullah Mohamed consisted of: Salleh Mohamed Noor, Ramli Talib, S. Krishnamoorthy, Hasnan Ahmad, Razip Ismail, Soh Chor Len, Abu Bakar Ahmad, Zulkifli Abdullah, P. International teams that competed in the tournament were Ghana, Indonesia, Swansea City’s Selection, America FC (Rio de Janeiro) from Brazil, South Korea and Thailand.
