Pestabola Merdeka 2023 – Harimau Malaya v Blue Tigers
Harimau Malaya di bawah pengendalian jurulatih Kim Pan-gon akan bertemu pasukan kebangsaan India “Blue Tigers” manakala Palestine akan bertembung dengan Lebanon pada 13 Oktober 2023 dalam kejohanan Pestabola Merdeka yang ke-42.
Itu adalah hasil undian yang dilakukan oleh Naib Presiden FAM, Mohd Firdaus Mohamed, selaku Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Pertandingan FAM di Wisma FAM pada 8 Ogos 2023.
Pemenang akan berentap di pentas final untuk merebut kejuaraan manakala pasukan yang tewas akan bertemu dalam perlawanan penentuan tempat ketiga pada 17 Oktober 2023. Kesemua perlawanan akan diadakan di Stadium Nasional, KL Sports City.
Kali terakhir Malaysia bertemu pasukan Blue Tigers di Pestabola Merdeka adalah pada tahun 1986, di mana pasukan Harimau Malaya kendalian Josef Venglos menang 3–0 hasil jaringan Azhar Shariff dan dua gol daripada Zainal Abidin Hassan.
Kali ini, perlawanan pasti lebih sengit. Pada saat ini, India berada pada kedudukan 99 FIFA sementara Malaysia di tangga 136. Palestine dan Lebanon masing-masing berada di ranking 96 dan 100.
Kim Pan-gon mengharapkan kelebihan bermain di halaman sendiri dapat mendorong pasukan beliau untuk meraih kejayaan.

2023 Merdeka Tournament – Harimau Malaya v Blue Tigers
Harimau Malaya under the management of coach Kim Pan-gon will meet national Indian team “Blue Tigers” while Palestine will clash with Lebanon on October 13, 2023 in the 42nd Pestabola Merdeka tournament.
Those were the results of the votes drawn by FAM Vice President Mohd Firdaus Mohamed, as Chairman of the FAM Competition Committee, at Wisma FAM on August 8, 2023.
The winners will compete at the final match for the championship while the losing teams will meet in the third-place match on October 17, 2023. All matches will be held at the National Stadium, KL Sports City.
The last time Malaysia met the Blue Tigers at the Merdeka Tournament was in 1986, where the team under Josef Venglos won 3–0 through a goal from Azhar Shariff and two goals from Zainal Abidin Hassan.
This time, the match will prove to be more intense. India is currently ranked 99 in FIFA while Malaysia is ranked 136. Palestine and Lebanon are ranked at 96 and 100 respectively.
Kim Pan-gon hopes that the advantage of playing at home can push his team to success.
