Pilihan Malaysia v Tottenham Hotspur – 27 Mei 2015

Keputusan 2–1 kekal sehingga wisel penamat separuh masa pertama dibunyikan.

On May 27, 2015, a Malaysian Selection team, coached by Dollah Salleh, met Tottenham Hotspur FC ahead of starting their English Premier League (EPL) season. Malaysia Selection was strengthened by imported players who played in the Malaysian League such as Paulo Rangel, Thiago Juninho, Guilherme De Paula, Robert Cornthwaite and Ali Ashfaq.

While Malaysia started their attack early on in the match, the Spurs were ready to retaliate. The visiting team’s defence was held strong by England player Danny Rose and Belgian international Jan Vertonghen. Their star striker Harry Kane was ready to pounce on the tigers.

Malaysia made their first goal attempt in the sixth minute by Joseph Kalang Tie, saved by Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. Three minutes later, Kane attempted a free kick past Malaysia and Kelantan’s keeper Khairul Fahmi but was slightly short on power.

After recovering from another failed attempt, Kane went for the winner in the 18th minute, scoring the first goal of the match. Malaysia thought they equalised a mere four minutes later through Paulo Rangel but it was disallowed by referee Amirul Izwan as offside.

In the 32nd minute, Indra Putra took his free kick and curled the ball towards Thiago Juninho. Rose intercepted to steal it away from Juninho and unfortunately landed the ball into his own net.

Malaysia grew confident and continued their attacks to bring down Spurs’ defence. However, it was Harry Kane who scored Spurs’ second goal three minutes before half-time.

The 2–1 score remained until the final whistle blew. The Spurs made five substitutions at the start of the second half, allowing their younger players a chance to play, which may have disrupted the momentum of the match as both teams slowed down.

Malaysia also brought in players such as Yong Kuong Yong, Christi Jayselan, Norshahrul Idlan, and goalkeeper Mohd Zamir Selamat. Nasir, who was injured after a clash with Bentaleb, was replaced with Ahmad Hazwan Bakri.

Rangel almost gave Malaysia a second goal in the 80th minute but Spurs’ substitute goalkeeper Michel Vorm was quick to deny.

Tottenham Hotspur left Shah Alam Stadium with a win before they flew to Australia to play against Sydney FC.
