Gaya Legenda Soo-Toh Kim Poh

Soo-Toh Kim Poh’s Legendary Style

Soo-Toh Kim Poh, former national player of the 1960s, is known for his highly individualistic skills. Despite playing defence, he often “overlapped” and dribbled past his opponents.

His teammate and former captain of the national team, the late Ibrahim Mydin, once stated that Kim Poh played hard in helping the Malaysian team’s attacking side by charging through his opponents and penetrating their defence.

Meanwhile, former right winger Rahim Abdullah, who played at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, described Kim Poh’s playing style as akin to Franz Beckenbauer. According to Rahim, Kim Poh’s versatility makes him a worthwhile comparison to the former German captain. Both of them also played in midfield and defence positions for their respective teams.

Kim Poh started representing Malaysia at the Asian Youth Championships in 1963 when he was 17 years old. He played for the national senior team in various tournaments such as the Asian Games, the Merdeka Tournament, the South Vietnam Independence Cup, Thai King’s Cup and the SEAP Games until his retirement in 1970.

Let’s tune in for a few words from Soo-Toh Kim Poh himself.
